The City recognises that it has an important part to play in achieving ongoing sustainability of the area and its residents, businesses, jobs, facilities and services. It can achieve this by regulating, facilitating and advocating for economic development outcomes.
The City’s Economic Development Strategy is designed to provide clear direction for business growth and job generation and will guide sustainable growth throughout the City. It is guided by its vision, to have a vibrant and sustainable economy that provides a diversity of jobs and investment opportunities. This vision builds on the City’s strengths and assets, and promotes the emerging opportunities for growth and development. The Strategy focuses on four priority areas:
Our People and Businesses
Our City Centre
Our Business Parks, Commercial Precincts and Employment Hubs
Our Visitor Economy
