The Access and Inclusion Reference Group was formed in 1995, to support the City’s Disability Services Plan, and provide feedback and advice to the City. The group comprises a City Councillor, City officers and community representatives.
Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “Welcome to our new members of the Reference Group, and thank you to those who recently finished their term of service. The Access and Inclusion Reference Group provides a key voice to the City, and supports the City as we plan and create an inclusive future of all our residents.”
The group meets bi-monthly and works with the City, giving advice on how to improve access and inclusion for people living with a disability.
The group is currently chaired by Cr Gary Smith as voting member, with a mix of non-voting City officers to represent the City. It has eight community members that mostly represent community organisations and community members who live with disability, have family members living with disability or show general interest in access and inclusion. Community members have voting membership and are elected on alternating two-year terms.
We have four new members, three representing disability service providers, and one from the community.
Welcome to our new members, who join Angela Pine, Sherri Rodier, Emma Nesbitt and Melissa Northcott on the Reference Group.
