The Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group is a community-led organisation that coordinates landcare planning, river restoration, bushland management, community action and community awareness programs.
With the help of thousands of volunteers each year, AGLG focuses on implementing on-ground restoration and revegetation projects as well as educating the community about local landcare issues. On-ground activities predominantly involve planting native seedlings (trees, shrubs, herbs, sedges and rushes) and removing priority environmental weeds.
AGLG works closely with Local Government, State Government and other landcare and natural resource management organisations to coordinate a strategic approach to landcare activities. In addition AGLG provides technical advice to the local community and advocates for the environment where issues arise.
AGLG host a number of events throughout the year that people can come along to. Registration is required on the day and once completed affords individuals an appropriate level of insurance whilst performing AGLG activities. AGLG is always looking for extra hands to assist with a range of activities that may include though are not limited to:
planting
weeding
morning or afternoon tea setup
environmental information displays; and/or
caretaking / monitoring of bushland sites or waterways.
The level of participation is up to the individual. AGLG welcomes everyone along to its events including children, friends, neighbours and grandparents.
AGLG supplies all equipment including tools, gloves, sunscreen and where appropriate gumboots. Participants are required to wear suitable clothing, shoes, hats and water bottles.
Schools, sporting groups and clubs are welcome to contact AGLG and find out how their group can participate. To find out about upcoming events, visit the AGLG website and Facebook page.
For more information, including current and past projects and how to get involved visit the AGLG website, or contact the AGLG Coordinator on 9394 5622 or email.
