Geraldine was born in Gibraltar, and moved to Perth in her early twenties. Geraldine has won many awards, including the Gibraltar May Festival Artist Award in 1989, and third prize in the Armadale Society of Artists Awards in 2018. She was won the People’s Choice Award three times in: Belmont (2016), Bayswater (2019), and with the Armadale Society of Artists (ASA) in 2024.
Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “Congratulations Geraldine, on being our 2025 Armadale Arts Festival Artist. We look forward to seeing your infectious energy and love of engaging with audiences bring all things art to life across the 17 days of the Armadale Arts Festival.”
Geraldine joined the Armadale Society of Artists in 2015 as a committee member, holds leadership positions, of which her contribution was a major factor in the success of the first two Extensions Exhibitions, held as part of Armadale Arts Festival. She hosts regular art classes at the ASA Studio, actively supports and nurtures children with art classes, and hosts a range of workshops for all abilities. She is an enthusiastic and active member of the local art scene, and a key contributor to the ASA.
Geraldine’s vision for Armadale Arts Festival is to bring the community together, and engage local artists and residents in the process. Free canvasses will be distributed, and community members will have the opportunity to create their own work of art, via the ‘What Armadale Means To You’ theme. No experience is required, and it is open to anyone over the age of 12. To enter, go to one of the canvas distribution points, and then submit your piece. These will be displayed as part of a first ever Community Exhibition. More details are on the ASA website.
The 2025 Armadale Arts Festival will run from Friday 2 May 2025 – Sunday 18 May 2025.
