The City of Armadale began work on the Morgan Park pavilion rebuild, with an official sod turning ceremony marking the formal start of the project on Friday 25 July 2025.

City of Armadale Councillors were joined by Hon Rita Saffioti BBus MLA, Hon Dr Tony Buti BPE DipEd MIR LLB DPhil MLA and City officers, as part of the official ceremony.

Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “The existing pavilion was built in the 1970’s and is no longer fit for purpose. We are building a new pavilion, with two main function spaces, both with their own kitchens. One space will be a club room, and the other will be a hireable main hall for community use. There will be four change-rooms, toilets that include universal access, storage space, and a brand-new carpark. The old pavilion will then be removed.

“The cost of the new pavilion and associated works will be approximately $5.8 million. The redevelopment is funded with support from the WA Government. We thank the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport and the Minister, for the contribution of $809,784 towards the project.

“We are excited to get the project underway and look forward to providing the clubs and residents with a bright modern facility which will be focal point for the community.”

Morgan Park sits in the suburb of Seville Grove and features a multi-use park and pavilion.

The site is currently used by two local clubs; The Armadale Soccer Club and the Dale Little Athletics Club.

The Armadale Soccer Club hosts structured pathways for their junior participants from 5-18 years of age. They have four levels within their development program and a total of 43 teams of all genders that play and train at Morgan Park and make regular use of the pavilion.

Dale Little Athletics Club was founded in 1977 and is a OneSport club affiliated to Athletics West, providing competition for Little Athletes aged 5-16 years at the grass roots level. There are currently four clubs that are affiliated with Dale Athletics (Byford Little Athletics, Forrestdale Little Athletics, Roleystone Redbacks Little Athletics and Spartans Little Athletics), and around 400 members from the four clubs.

Morgan Park also hosts a range of school and interschool sports events, for both primary and high schools. The Pavillion is hired for a number of privately booked events when not in use by the resident clubs.
