A drive along Canning Road still floats my boat.

Sam Marshall

I was born and bred in Karragullen, and my dad was born and bred in Armadale in the 1940s. I am very proud to have the 6111 as a postcode I have travelled and lived away over the years but still call the hills home.

How are you involved in the community?

I play cricket for Roleystone Karragullen Cricket Club. Love that too. I used to run around for the Kelmscott Bulldogs when I was a brat, and Roleystone Football Club before that.

What is your favourite thing to do on the weekends in Armadale and surrounding areas?

I happily chill at home or visit friends locally, watch some local footy or play a bit of cricket for Roleystone/ Karragullen Cricket Club.

Any hidden gems or favourite places you would recommend – whether it’s a scenic spot, a creative space, or a local café in the area?

A drive along Canning Road still floats my boat. It's beautiful and I never get tired of it. Local service from locally owned businesses is something I take for granted, but when I leave the area as I often do, I realise how much I value that.
