Request for a Street Tree Program

Did you know? If you are a property owner in the City of Armadale you can request to have a tree planted on your verge for FREE!

About the Street Tree Request Program

Be a participant in the City's tree planting efforts! Through the City's free street tree program, residents can request a street tree. This program allows residents and the City to work together in increasing the City of Armadale's tree canopy cover, creating a more liveable and sustainable community for all. All you need to do is submit an expression of interest and agree to water the tree over its life. City officers will evaluate the verge area and determine an appropriate species selection.

All you need to do is submit a completed Street Tree Request form to the City.

  • CLOSE OFF DATE is 31 October every year to ensure we can order the trees required. (Note: any applications received after this time will be considered for the following year's planting season)

  • Any new requests after this date will be considered for planting as part of the following year's Tree Planting Program

  • You will need to commit to watering the tree until it is established, approximately 3 years

This only applies to requests for new street trees, not requests to replace trees that have already been removed.

How do I Apply?

Applying to participate in the Resident Tree Planting Program is easy! Simply visit our Engage Armadale - Street Tree Request Program

Planting

  • All programmed street tree planting is scheduled between autumn and spring, when the opportunity for successful plant establishment occurs

  • Soil is improved at planting and a fertiliser is applied

  • Each new tree will have two wooden stakes on either side for support and a tree guard around the perimeter of the tree bed

  • Please note that the Parks team does not plant on private property

Please be aware that, as tree plantings may be delayed by weather or other unforeseen events, we're unable to provide an exact planting date. The council will plant, stake, fertilise, and provide the initial watering.

Why plant trees?

Street trees not only beautify the streetscape and help create vibrant communities, but they also have functional benefits such as:

  • Enhanced property values

  • Reduced ambient air temperature

  • Cleans the air by absorbing polluting gases

  • Reduces cooling energy consumption costs

  • Saves water through reduced evaporation

  • Creates habitat for wildlife

Requesting a new tree to replace one that was recently removed

If the reason for this application is to request a replacement tree for one that has been recently removed from your verge, please refer to parksemail@armadale.wa.gov.au
