This tremendous milestone was reached by a dedicated team effort of 62 Swim School Instructors, breaking the 4000 enrolment mark for the first time in AFAC history and cementing AFAC as one of the premier swim schools in WA.
Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “Learning to swim and being safe in and around the water, is a crucial skill to learn, regardless of your age. To have 4000 community members enrolled in these classes, is a remarkable achievement by the AFAC team.
“Congratulations to all the AFAC staff that have played their role in building Swim School to this milestone and making a ‘life saving’ difference in the community.”
This record is the culmination of five years of work, and a continued push to raise the standard year on year. AFAC are proud to partner with local high schools and facilitate Royal Life Saving WA Swim Instructor practicals, to address the national shortage of swim instructors. AFAC certified 30 new instructors in 2024. AFAC are the WA ambassadors for Swim Australia’s SWIMSAFER program.
Swim School accepts enrolments all year round.
In another impressive milestone, AFAC broke a record with attendance in January, breaking 100,000 total monthly visits for the first time. This milestone matches the dedication to excellence seen at Swim School, as AFAC continues to go above and beyond in service to the community.
