Recycling hubs have been installed to drop off household hazardous waste (HHW) that must be kept out of kerbside bins but contains resources that are recyclable.
WA alone recorded 81 lithium-ion battery related fires in 2022, and its estimated three fires every week in Australian waste and recycling trucks are caused by batteries in kerbside bins.
