Don't buy new

Landfill is the last resort for your waste - think twice before throwing stuff out.

Landfill is the last resort for your waste - think twice before tossing stuff out. If you have items around the house that you no longer need or want, take them to the Drop ‘n’ Shop Reuse Centre (at no charge, located at 145 Hopkinson Road, Hilbert) and help extend their life for as long as possible.

A wide range of items are accepted and sold at low cost, including furniture, kitchenware, building materials, toys, tools, books and more. A diverse range of op shops are located throughout Armadale and surrounding suburbs – second hand is far from second best!

OCTOBER IS 'BUY NOTHING NEW' MONTH

We’re challenging you to step up to the challenge of Buy Nothing New Month in October. It’s a whole month when you try not to buy anything new except for essentials. It’s all about being mindful of where our stuff comes from and where it goes when we're done with it.

Join your local online Buy Nothing Group and give away or receive household items for free!

SWAP EVENTS Why not host a swap event to promote a circular economy and encourage sharing and reusing? National Recycling Week in November is a great time to do it! The City of Armadale hosts a range of swap events throughout the year to change the community’s relationship with products and encourage sharing and reusing instead of always buying new.

Keep an eye on www.armadale.wa.gov.au/whats-events-workshops for our next event. Mindful recycling reduces landfill, conserves our natural resources and creates cleaner, greener communities. Recycling isn't just a task; it's a community effort for a greener future.
